The entire army made it's way into the dungeon, while Divaqs stayed in the Fortress...making sure to keep the very last of the forces around.
"They better stay on their toes down there, If they aren't it would be a disaster." Divaqs said to himself.
He sat and watched the night sky it was truly peaceful. It was quite the opposite of what was going on below his feet.
The sounds of demons, and humans alike could be heard, screaming in death, giving a war cry, or meeting the blade of an opponent. This was the second day fo the siege of the dungeons. They took turns resting in cleared areas while the rest of the army advanced.
Magus saw all around him good deeds of valor and combat. Up to this point towards the end of clearing the second level, the Alliance had lost only a few of it's members. He saw many brave souls especially of the Paladins doing fine work.
Like Woolegit, who's intimidating style of magic and combat impressed Magus greatly. Casting fire spells of great destruction burnt demons to the core. His gray armor was covered with spots of blood and ash from his dead opponents.
Or Theoden Everclear another guard who, just as Magus looked, crushed another zombie's skull. He then laid waste to another five skeletons by casting a fireball upon them, consuming them in burning heat.
Magus himself shot electricity from his body that flowed out in all directions, killing a group of devil kin that were surrounding him.
So far the dungeon seemed easy.......
Kothra, another member of the Order of the Dragon was almost dizzying her allies with her great speed...which made it even worse for the demons. She wielded her sword with vicious accuracy, beheading and slicing up demons left and right. However these simple demons soon recieved stronger reinforcements of their own.
Dr. Physco was nearly slain by demons, known as the Hidden, but the members of his regiment, the brave Defenders of the Faith, slaughtered them. The Defenders were always known for their zealous fury and this was obvious when they set up a band of skeletons. Crushing them with their maces.
Magus then saw something coming from a room in the left. It was a large red demon that carried a huge, wicked looking axe. Sir Chovus also spotted this horrendous demon.
"Tis the Butcher," Sir Chovus said," I shall challenge this fiend!"
He dodged to a side and stabbed the demon in it's fat belly. The demon screamed in pain but kept hacking away. Chovus couldn't dislodge the blade from the creature's stomach. It remained in there, causing the demon enormous pain. Chovus had to think fast. He pulled out a staff, which had magical qualities.
"Sirak!" he said and a small ball of fire. He repeated this and ball after ball of searing hot flame launched from the staff and hit the Butcher in the face, stomach, legs and arms. the flesh of the demon began to char. The demon roared in rage but the balls of fire kept striking him. The sword eventually was knocked out of it's stomach. Unfortunately, Chovus ran out of firebolts to shoot. Using his quick thinking, he took a dagger from his belt, and with incredible speed he tied the blade onto the staff, making it a makeshift spear.
Chovus charged the Butcher and drove the "spearpoint" deep inside the demon's right shoulder, the arm that it held it's blade. Chovus knew he couldn't for his blade, because it was behind the demon, but he noticed that his good fortune served him once again.
The axe the butcher carried fell from it's hand, due to Chovus puncturing a nerve in the demon's arm, making his entire right arm limp. Chovus took the axe, and with all of his muster, drove it into the seven foot demon's chest. It roared in pain and fell back. Chovus walked onto the fat creature's lifeless body.
"The souls of the departed, hath now been avenged," he said, pulling his new weapon, the axe from the demon's chest.
All of the demons suddenly began retreating. Their general had been slain. The Allies chased these creatures down with bows and killed many dozens of them. But the few that escaped made their way to the third floor.
The second floor had been conquered. But the next was the supposed location of King Leoric, now in his damned form as the Skeletal King...the army rested, but the next day the campaign would continue.
"Sire, Sir Chovus hath slain the Butcher, and the forces have taken the second level." the meesenger said.
"Excellent!" Pjotor said.
"Yes, they are making incredible progress. The gods are blessing us." Divaqs answered.
"Divaqs...I want our victory to be absolute, we need to get the newest groups we have met to join us."
"The Defenders of Camelot, the Ayslum of the Naiad, and the Defenders of the Faith?" Divaqs asked.
"Yes ask them to come and bring their armies, and that a glorious day has come for the Alliance!" Pjotor said.
"Sire, I am sorry to interrupt you two, but Puppet, the quest and campaign master is here to see you." a messenger said.
"Send him in," Pjojot replied.
Puppet entered the room, something seemed to be troubling him.
"What do you need Puppet?" Divaqs asked.
"Excaliber has retired sir, and I am afraid I must do the same. Like him, I wish to have my own group." Puppet said.
"We understand, in fact, we knew you would one day wish to lead your own guild, because of your endless ideas and hard work ethic." Divaqs said.
"In fact, we wanted to give you one of the tomes of knowledge. The book of Good, for you to have...it is an ancient text that has the old code that knights used to have years ago." Pjotr said and gave Puppet the book.
"Thank you my lords, I appreciate all of my time with the guild." Puppet said.
"As we have enjoyed yours," Divaqs answered, " make sure you join the Alliance when your guild has it's feet on the ground."
Puppet nodded and left without another word. It seems that first Excaliber, then Puppet, two of the guild's finest, had left. But new talent would soon arrive..
The army of the Alliance made sure to pick up all weapons, gold, armor and rings they found. A week was spent in this manner, buying new weapons and armor and using the newly found equipment. The army was ready to go and the next floor would be the hardest yet....
